One of the most common ways that people “deal” with dog barking is to yell at their dog(s). They say all sorts of things like “Be Quiet”, “Shut Up!” and worse… Now, that’s no way to eliminate dog barking.
But, it doesn’t really work. Ask anyone who screams at their dog if it’s helped them get their dog to stop. I would bet that it hasn’t. There really are much more effective ways like a Humane Bark Collar which you can pick up on Amazon by clicking below.

Why Yelling Won’t Eliminate Dog Barking
Over and over again, it’s been proven by us and other dog trainers that yelling is not a good way to make your dog stop barking. Usually, this is what happens:
- Your Dog Thinks You’re Barking With Them. That makes it fun for your dog so they keep doing it
- They Have Succeeded in Getting Your Attention. That really might be all that they want and the more you give them, the more they will bark
- As Funny As It Sounds, They Might Actually Think You’re Competing With Them For Who Is Louder. You guessed it, they will probably start barking EVEN LOUDER
Basically, it really just makes everything worse. You might literally cause more barking problems than you had before. That’s not what we want.
