The Miniature Schnauzer Dog Breed is the most popular breed of Schnauzer.  They are also one of the most popular dog breeds in the world.  Like many small to medium sized breeds of the mid 19th Century they were bred as ratters and guard dogs.

Their qualities were used across many farms in Germany at the time.  Being obedient and having a very calm and composed demeanor led to their success as guard dogs.

Is the Miniature Schnauzer for you?

As a pet, the Miniature Schnauzer is an ideal choice.  They are one of the best dogs when it comes to a training perspective.  Their guard dog past leads them to bark a lot.  However, with the proper training you should be able to settle your little pooch down.

The Miniature Schnauzer will fit right in with your family if you do not live in a small confined environment.  While they can live in these areas the barking may keep you and your neighbors up at night.
